Dilemma Charity ~ Addiction Family Support Group.

The Dilemma Charity educates, supports, and nurtures families who have an addicted loved one. We teach you how to reconnect with your own self-care, and why it is so important. We educate you about addiction, how it affects the addict and how it impacts families. Probably most importantly we teach you how to support in the right way.

Dilemma’s Addiction Family Support provides a safe, confidential place, with no judgement or shame for people supporting an addict. We know the emotional rollercoaster; we know the merry go round because we have been there. We provide peer to peer support groups, 1 to 1 mentoring, telephone support, and outreach support.

Dilemma Charity’s Mission Statement

Vision

To provide a confidential, safe place, for families and friends with addicted loved ones to receive support and mentoring with like-minded people who have lived experience.

Mission

Dilemma engages an open-door policy to enhance the service provided to families and friends with addicted loved ones. We strive to reach people who have become isolated, fearful, ashamed, and guilty through someone else’s illness and to show them that there is a life beyond addiction.

We give people hope and show them how to support an addict in the right way, by providing one to one and group mentoring in a respectful, non-judgmental environment, which explores addiction and its effects on families. We encourage the rediscovery of self-care and why it is so important when supporting someone in addiction. We look at bespoke coping strategies for everyone using our service.

Our team have all experienced the world of addiction, from the outside looking in, and know first-hand the pain, frustration, and fear that our service users are going through.

By working with key local key agencies, we are able to signpost our service users to the services that can help their addicted loved ones when they are ready to reach out for professional help.

Dilemma Charity is a driving force behind educating society with the aim of de-stigmatizing addiction. Also, working towards engaging the relevant services to collaborate and provide a holistic approach for all those affected by the illness of addiction, not just the addicted person.
